Photo Albums

Before I came here, I got a new camera to document my experiences. I'd done a little photography in high school, but nothing serious. While all my albums are available on Facebook, due to internet problems, they may be difficult to sort through, so here is a link to them (note: you will have to b my "friend" to see them most of them). They begin with photos from my "farewell tour" before I left, and are in chronological order (most recent at the bottom).

General Photos of Me Includes photos taken by other people.

The Beginning Of The End Houston, the first leg of my journey, and Galveston, for Mardi Gras and Tommy.

Chillin' With Soundwave Hanging out at the basketball game with some friends from the band days.

Pink Out Tulane Green Wave Women's Basketball Team's breast cancer awareness night.

New Orleans Next Stop: Tulane and the Big Easy.

The Penguins Are On Vacation A trip to the Boston Aquarium with Courtney. Sadly, due to renovations, the penguin exhibit (the best part of Boston) was closed. Though we did see a few penguins (who I believe came from southern Africa)

The Last Leg Final stop on my trip to see friends before I left: Boston.

Seeing My Teams One Last Time Going to a Caps game and the DCU home opener before I left.

The First Few Days And so, my journey begins, for real.

More Training Exactly what the name implies

Windhoek First trip to the capital to learn a bit of history.

Cultural Food Day The training staff and host families, teaching us to make the traditional foods of the regions where we'll be serving. (Warning: not for the weak of stomach)

Homestay Begins Meeting my host family for training.

Site Visit Seeing my home for the next 2 years for the first time.

Smarties Fitness Center Making exercising fun for my host siblings and their friends.

Nambalaya This time, it was the Americans' version to cook our own cultural foods. And, while we had some trouble deciding what exactly that was, as a former New Orleans resident, making a massive pot of jambalaya (with a Namibian twist) was my responsibility. As was given a "thank you" speech to the host families in KKG (Damara/Nama).

Swearing In Becoming an official PCV. Now, the real adventure could begin.

Hangin' Around This Town Early days at site.

Khoadi //Hoas Computer training course I ran at a nearby conservancy.

A Little Beyond The World's End My boss took me fishing on the Coast.

[Big Fat] Damara Engagement My host mo took me to the last couple days of an engagement ceremony for one of her relatives.

Running Children Not actually taken by my, but by my host mom, who needed to borrow my camera because her battery was dead. The little ones' primary school had a race event, and these are some pics from it.

Random Wanderings Around Town I would assume the name speaks for itself, but these are random photos taken while wandering around Khorixas.

Reconnect And The Days Leading Up Some pics from the hospital, where I was staying for a short time (they had a room for me when I needed to move out of my homestay). Also, some pics from my first of 2 re-connect trainings. Not a particularly outstanding week, but some beautiful photos.

"How Do You Say 'Gin' In Damara?" "Beer" My town hosted a Damara festival. Most of the pics are of the soccer tournament, because during the dancing, partying, and meat eating parts of the festival (//Goa!Haob), I was kind of busy dancing, partying, and eating meat.

A Wedding And A Move My host mom invited me to a wedding. While I may have been a  bit too, er...  occupied at the reception to get pics, I did get a bunch from the beautiful ceremony. Also in here are some pics of and from my new place, a small room in my youth center that is my personal fortress of solitude.

It May Be A Different Age, But I'm On The Same Page From the Windhoek Jazz Festival.

ISTs Are A Lot Like A Google Image Search Some friends of mine getting silly at a training.

Walking In a Summer Wonderland Christmas comes to Khorixas. Complete with lights and puppies

New Doors New Years in Khorixas

Sunrise over Dune 45 Pre-dawn climb of the most photographed dune in the world (supposedly), and sunrise from the (not quite) top.

Deadvlei Deadvlei, a former oasis in the desert, now with ancient dying trees.

Cheetahs and Canyons and Scorpions, oh my The end of the trip. Pics from the Sesriem canyon and a cheetah reserve.

A Grace-ful Goodbye Grace's going away party and our last night out in Khorixas before her COS. Thanks for showing me the ropes.

Penguins South African penguins.

Contrasting Beautiful Namibia (part 1) My family has arrived in Namibia (mostly southern Namibia in this album).

ACSC goes to Etosha My fitness club, the Another Chance Social Club, takes a trip to Etosha to see animals and learn about setting goals and navigating the roadblocks in order to achieve them.

Videos This one may see limited updates until I get back. I have a few videos, some dating back to training, and I will try to get them posted, but my limited and super slow internet makes that difficult.

Swakop Marathon/Half Marathon Being supportive of some fellow PCVs running the race, as well as taking some photos on behalf of my ministry. Good job, guys.

Khorixas Kids Because what better to brighten your day than a bunch of pictures of kids around my town having fun in the hot summer sun?

End of the Year Braai Celebrating a successful year with Taylor's and my various health and youth clubs.

Office Holiday Braai Failed attempts at a staff photo and a little end-of-the-year blowing off of the steam (complete with plenty of meat).

Thankful for Stuffing Celebrating Thanksgiving (a little late) in Opuwo, with Americans, Namibians, Germans, and Japanese all gathered around the table. We were all quite thankful for stuffing.

The Shitange Hit The Fan Camping out at Epupa Falls. Epic weekend, fun times, and more rain than I've seen the entire rest of my time in Namibia combined. Could've been worse

The Khorixas Bums Photos of the end of the year, my day as Santa Jay, my New Years Day hike, and the Christmas lights up around my town.

Loose Seal Another Swakop trip.

Big Easy Living Four years at Tulane, life around New Orleans, football games, graduation, and friends.

Back in Black (and Red) A couple days before I went to Namibia, I went to a DC United game. I came home to enjoy a DCU game with my dad (which just so happened to be Peace Corps Night, so cool timing). One of my rare point-and-shoot albums, since I needed to get some work done on my DSLR when I came back.

America Rocks the Foo Fighters decided to celebrate 20 years by throwing a big bash in DC for independence day. Trombone Shorty, Joan f***ing Jett, Heart, Buddy Guy. LL Cool J, Gary Clark, Jr., and more. It was a super awesome concert, capped off with Dave in his throne and an epic firework show. God bless America.

Maine Celebrating my dad's birthday in Maine. God, I love that state. And the ducks were friendly.

Cali visiting my Tulane roommates (and cats) in the Bay Area before law school.

New Years in Mexico Cerveza, tacos, SCUBA, the beach, and family. Not the worst way to ring in the year.

Don't Eat the Yellow Snow Snow storm in Boston, the first real one since I moved here. Also, Super Bowl Sunday. Sorry, Thomas.

Northeastern vs. Colgate My first college hockey game, taking a bunch of southerners to their first ever live hockey game. And, NU got the home schedule started off right with a nice win over a ranked opponent.

Hockey East Champs And incredible run, and Sandler, Jeremy, and I got to witness our first HE title since 1988.

Trip to the Aquarium Break between quarters, so Thomas, Jeremy, and I hit up the aquarium in Boston. Because, you know, penguins are awesome.

1 helL of a Year Celebrating the end of my 1L year with a short trip back to DC before starting summer quarter. Tulane alumni crawfish boil, RPCV DC wreath laying at JFK's grave. Also, unwinding after finals with my camera around Boston as Spring blooms. Pretty flowers and the cool architecture of the Christian Scientist building took center stage.

Vacation Down South 1: Dam, Nevada Between Summer quarter and my Co-Op at the Mass. AGO, I took a trip down south. Stop 1: Nevada; Vegas (not my favorite place) and the Hoover Dam.

Vacation Down South 2: A Big Ol' Hole in the Ground Stop 2: the Grand Canyon. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Seriously, it surpassed my lofty expectations. Beyond that, let the photos (and Kerouac quotes) speak for themselves.

Vacation Down South 3- Zinc? Sorry, I Wasn't Paying Attention Final stop of the trip: Sedona, Arizona. Great place. Closes early. Still, would've loved to spend more time there.

Banner Night for the Huskier Northeastern vs. Bentley. The 2016-17 season home opener. Sandler and I came along to celebrate last season's title and watch the Huskies unveil the championship banner.
